How can I incorporate my social justice beliefs into my business?
Trust me, I get how overwhelming it can feel to start trying to build a more ethical and transparent business. Through sharing my values & actions more transparently, I have learned a LOT about myself. I have also learned a lot about how I want to show up in my business.
I’ll break it to you right now: there’s no “one-size-fits-all” strategy or checklist for you to follow to have an anti-racist business. Every business is different, and only you can decide what is right for your specific business and personality. Instead of searching for the answers outside of yourself, I encourage you to look inwards & figure out what is right for you. And be ready to experiment! The key is to find what works, and that process usually takes a lot of trial and error.
In today’s video, I’m sharing some of the strategies that I have been using over the past year as I have more intentionally built my social justice values into my business and brand. They’re not “tips”: they’re mindset shifts that I think will be useful as you start this journey in your own business. Watch right here:
Small steps = big change.
Becoming an intentional, values-based, ethical, anti-racist business is the work of a lifetime. It is not an overnight shift or a switch that gets flipped. Instead, we need to focus on slow, sustainable, consistent efforts that are baked into our businesses every day. What system could you create to give back every time you get a new client or sale? How can you design your marketing efforts to use only inclusive language? The answers are inside you, and the world is waiting to hear them.
I’d love to know: What do you already do in your business to create a more just & equitable world? What ideas do you have for incorporating these values into your business? Let me know in the comments below or over on Instagram @stephpellett. 📣 ⬇️
